"Know" Snow Info for March
Boston is dealing with issues from all the snowstorms and the Downtown Boston Business Improvement District (BID) is providing info about business services, parking information, things to keep in mind, how you can help and more. We will continue to update this list, and provide you with additional information as it becomes available. If at any time you have questions or concerns please call the BID's Dispatch at 617-261-0066 or email info@bostonbid.org, and please leave a message if no one answers - we will get back to you. The BID does have jumper cables and a jump box for vehicles to help with dead batteries, and this service is free of charge. If you or your business has any Falling Ice/Snow signs that could be used in the BID, please contact the Dispatch line.
We want to thank the Downtown Boston community for your diligence, patience and collaboration during the recent challenges we've faced with winter weather. Over the past few weeks, we have been impressed with the way our community has responded and helped each other. During this process, we have learned a lot about reacting to and planning for these unpredictable circumstances that Mother Nature has thrown our way. During large snowstorms the BID has established a "snow desk" with 24 hour a day coverage making sure the district was as accesible as possible for those who live, work, or are visiting Downtown Boston. We have paid close attention to cross walks, handicapped ramps and properties with residents, employees, and service providers that may require more attention. We are also paying special attention to public transit bus stops and see if we can keep these areas clear. Working closely with Mayor Walsh and his public works and safety officials the BID has stepped up its efforts in addressing this unprecedented winter.
To prepare for winter storms and to ensure the safety of Downtown Boston residents, professionals, business owners, students, families and visitors, we have compiled a list of available resources and helpful reminders.
City Services:
Trash and Recycling Collection - Click here for more information and to learn what day your collection is on. For property and busines owners - please contact your trash hauler or check the city web site for residential pick up times.
Emergency Services:
If you see a person sleeping outside or not dressed for the elements please call 911 and the city will send emergency personal to transport the individual to a safe place.
St. Francis House (39 Boylston St.), 617-542-4211, is open during the day for people to stay warm.
Bowker Street Night Center (31 Bowker St.), open at 8:30 pm for people to sleep overnight.
New England Center for Homeless Veterans (17 Court St.), 617-371-1800, is open for veterans.

Logan Airport: With a winter storm approaching, travelers are encouraged to check with their airline for up-to-date flight information. Click here for a list of all airlines at Boston Logan Airport and their contact info.
Parking Information:
The following garages are open for public parking. The Post Office Square Garage even keeps one entry/exit open during governor imposed travel bans. There is absolutely no concern about space availability on nights and weekends at Garage at Post Office Square as there are 1,400 spaces and ALWAYS have open spaces on nights and weekends:

Things to Keep in Mind:
With the cycle of weather we have been experiencing, we would like to remind you of a few things that we, as a community, need to keep in mind during these inclement weather situations:
- Post signs on sidewalks that remind those who are walking to look out for falling snow and ice
- Remember to shovel out wheelchair ramps and sidewalk sections that help the physically disabled to maneuver in and around town
- Keep an eye out for our elderly residents who may need assistance shoveling, getting around town or in need of food, beverages and other amenities that they cannot access due to the weather
- Contact police and city services to help those who are less fortunate and living on the streets
- Dig out fire hydrants to provide firefighters with access
- Clear sidewalks and pathways without disrupting your neighbors' sidewalks and pathways
- Be careful when walking in the streets, especially while using headphones, in order to avoid cars and trucks that are traveling in and out of the district
